Paranormal activity and the weather (Space Weather):
First we will discuss the weather gauges above and then talk about the best haunting weather.
Weather Monitor Images (seen above):
The images seen above are "Weather Images", created by the owner of GhostGadgets.com, who created this method of displaying field statistics for paranormal websites. These images include current geomagnetic field data, X-Ray flux data, moon data, and even a forecast of good dates for paranormal activity. Data is downloaded from the SEC (Space Enviroment Center) every 15 minutes, and the Paranormal Weather Images are then regenerated to reflect current conditions. The following detail of the images (so you can understand them), and the graphs are also curtousy of GhostGadgets. A big Kudos to GhostGadgets!
Summary Image:
The first image above shows the current geomagnetic field status, X-Ray flux status, and moon data. The Geomagnetic Field Status is calculated by downloading Kp indexes for the past 24 hours. The Kp index is a measurement of how much the planetary geomagnetic field deviated from the normal "quiet day" index, its value ranges from 0 (no deviation) to 9 (large deviations). A Kp of less than 4 is considered Quiet, Kp = 4 is Unsettled, and Kp >= 5 is Storm level. Storm level is then broken down into five levels, G1 through G5 (Kp=5 is G1, Kp=6 is G2, and so on). Many people believe that days with a larger Kp index have more paranormal activity than quiet days. Solar X-Rays is a measure of electromagnetic flux levels in the .1 to .8 nanometer spectrum (Long wave). In order of magnitude, these levels can be Normal, Active, M-Class Flare, and X-Class Flare. Furthermore, the M and X-Class levels are broken down into divisions, M having 9 divisions (M1 through M9), and X having 20 divisions (X1 through X20). These values can tell us when solar flares are heading toward Earth, which often trigger geomagnetic storms within 36 hours of the X-Ray Flare. If you see a spike in the X-Ray Flux graph, keep an eye out on the geomagnetic field status, as there is a good change a storm will occur soon.
Geomagnetic/Moon Forecast Image:
The second image shows a forecast of good days for potential paranormal activity. The SEC (Space Environment Center) issues a daily forecast of expected maximum geomagnetic Ap values for the next 45 days. This data is downloaded, converted to Kp values, and any days that are expected to have levels of Kp = 4 or above (Unsettled or Storm levels) are included in the forecast. Though it is hard to predict future days of geomagnetic fluctuations, it's worth noting on your calendar any days in which a geomagnetic storm is expected. Also included are the dates for the next full and new moons and a current moon image, as many people consider full/new moon days increase paranormal activity. This image makes a great way to plan future investigation dates!
Moon Data Image:
The third image contains the current moon data. This includes the current illumination percentage, phase type (waxing or waning), and the dates of the next four major moon phases. Also included is a large image of the current moon.
The tables, following the weather images, show Kp and X-Ray Flux values and their corresponding activity levels. Please note that "Very Quiet", and "Semi-Quiet" aren't official levels (they are both considered "Quiet"); they have been included to increase the resolution of the scale.
And about that weather, what is the best haunting weather?
Some believe that certain weather or atmospheric conditions will enhance paranormal activity. The same theory goes for the moon, that the amount of lighting and other atmospheric elements give the investigator an advantage in an investigation. Moon Phases do have an effect on humans. I speak from personal experience, but even statistics show that during a full moon hospital activity increases greatly, geriatric patients become restless, aggitated and act out, even children seem to get a bit more hyper or cranky during the full moon. Climate has an effect on humans, statistics showing that there is a lot more depression in the darker winter months. If you are in the medical field, there is no arguing that moon phases and climate have an effect on the human species. There are also theories that depending on the moon phase, paranormal activity increases or decreases. As someone in the medical field, I cannot argue with that theory either, having experienced some extreme paranormal activity on full moon nights working in geriatric centers.
As the moon circles the Earth, the shape of the moon appears to change; this is because different amounts of the illuminated part of the moon are facing us. The shape varies from a full moon (when the Earth is between the sun and the moon) to a new moon (when the moon is between the sun and the Earth). When the shape changes, it also has affect on the geomagnetic fields. Most believe that the magnetic fields are the strongest on the days around the full and new moon cycles. Spirit activity is found to be more prominent during these times.
Solar flaring and acitivties theoreticly have strange effects on activity and equipment during magnetic storms. It is possible to mess up communications, readings and other systems such as navigation. It is also possible that the solar activities give power to ghosts and help them manifest more readily because they do need so much energy to do such during normal conditions.
In fact, researchers have found that during periods of heightened solar flare activity and geomagnetic activity in space, paranormal activity has increased. They state that M class and X class flares are good sources of energy for the spirits to use to manifest. As anyone in paranormal research has experienced, spirits often drain electrical sources such as appliances and batteries to gain this energy. On days when the air is full of surplus energy due to a solar storm or flare, they would then have plenty of energy to tap into, so it only makes sense. This is also important to know as a paranomral team member, because it may cause negative affects with the more sensitive EMF detectors, like the Trifield EM meter, giving a false positive readings.
So what is the best haunting weather? The best times for ghost hunting are during peak geomagnetic fields and solar storms (solar flares). Geomagnetic storms occur when electrically charged particles emanate from the sun, crashing into the earth's surface, which disrupts the earth's magnetic fields. This type of disturbance has also been shown to increase the amount of paranormal activity. Solar flares occur when a large flaming flare emanates from the sun, rises into space, then crashes back into the sun's surface. When this happens, massive amounts of solar x-rays and cosmic radiation are forced outward from the sun and eventually make their way to earth. When this occurs, the level of energy in our planet’s atmosphere is increased. This increase of energy leads to the escalation of paranormal activity. The phases of the moon have been proven to impact the intensity of the earth's geomagnetic field. For these reasons it is important for paranormal researchers and investigators to monitor these elements prior to conducting investigations. It is a well known fact that a good time to ghost hunt is 2-3 days prior, the day of, and 2-3 days after a full moon and a new moon. It has been noted that right after a thunder storm is also a great time to hunt ghosts.
Prior to conducting any type of paranormal investigation, the status of each of these factors should be checked. When researching paranormal activity, it is also possible to establish a pattern that may show how space weather impacts paranormal activity. When scheduling an investigation space weather should be considered. While solar flares and geomagnetic storms are not as predictable, the lunar cycles can be determined years ahead of time. Paranormal activity occurs every day, regardless of space weather. However, it has been proven that solar flares, geomagnetic storms and phases of the moon have had significant influence in the past, and they should not be ignored.
